We just wanted to take a minute and formally invite you to attend the “roots” Sunday school class and ministry this Sunday.  The “roots” Sunday school class will take place during the 10:30 service.

Yes, we know 9 AM is early to attend worship service, but we promise it will be worth your while to get out of bed so you can attend “roots”!  Below are some frequently asked questions about “roots”.  We will be happy to answer any additional questions in church Sunday or through our Facebook page (see below)

If this is just a Sunday school class, why call it “roots”?
“Roots” is not designed to “just” be a Sunday school class.  We have a vision of “roots” becoming a bigger ministry, maybe taking place at a different time and place than HBC on Sunday mornings.  We’re not entirely sure what the future holds for “roots” and we’re looking for your input.  What would you like to see?  What would you like to do?  How can we best use our time and resources to serve Christ?  Please come to the first couple weeks of “roots” and discuss our shared vision for the future of this ministry!

Who should come to “roots”?
The target audience for “roots” is the post-college, pre-children group.   “roots” is also designed to include college students and young families.  “roots” events will be marketed at other area churches who have expressed a similar need for a young adult ministry.  “roots” events are a great way to get friends who may not currently attend church involved!

What will we be studying in “roots”?
Roots will start with a couple weeks of introductory-type discussions.  We’ll discuss the vision for this class and get your feedback for what future topics should be, what events should be planned, etc.  After that we will get into our first series: “Coexist? Living in this world but not of it”.  In this series we will discuss the history and core beliefs of different world religions in order to discuss the most effective way to reach these people groups.

What kinds of events will “roots” have?
What kind of events would you like to see? Let us know.  We are planning on doing an “unplugged” worship night at over coffee sometime this spring.  Stay tuned for more information.
